PERFECT FOR THE CHOCOLATE LOVER

If you are anything like me, I have a massive sweet tooth - mainly for chocolate, which has

driven me to make this new scrumptious recipe!

These oat bars are actually really filling as they are high in protein from the oats and peanut butter, so are excellent for a snack which is sure to fill you up for a few more hours. It also only uses maple syrup as its sweetener, therefore being low in sugar it means you are guaranteed not to have a sugar crash quickly afterwards!

I am also a big lover of dark chocolate, and use a raw cacao powder (chocolate in it's purest form) which gives a very intense rich chocolate taste and I also combine it with chunks of dark chocolate but you can really mix it up to whichever chunks of chocolate you prefer!

Makes: 12 squares. Cooking Time: 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 200g porridge oats

  • 1/3 cup (85ml) maple syrup or honey

  • 1/2 cup (130g) smooth peanut butter

  • 175ml milk of choice (I use almond milk)

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 3tbsp cacao powder or cocoa powder

  • 80g dark chocolate (50g roughly chopped and the rest of drizzling on top)

METHOD
  1. Start by pre-heating your oven to 180C and lining a square baking tin.

  2. In a mixing bowl, mix together your wet ingredients (maple syrup, peanut butter and milk).

  3. Once well combined stir in your oats, cacao powder and baking powder until well combined.

  4. Fold in your roughly chopped chocolate pieces and then pour into your lined baking tin.

  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes, then leave to cool before melting your remaining dark chocolate to drizzle on top!

Happy Baking!
