2020

Happy 2020 All! I hope you have had a wonderful festive period these last few weeks and have settled back into daily life routine. As my first post of 2020 I wanted to share with you some of my honest 'resolutions' for the year. Now I am not about this 'new year, new me' hype, but instead have reflected on the good things 2019 brought me and want to set up small goals to help me maintain and enhance those things I enjoy, rather than make 2020 a year full of non-achievable and non-enjoyable goals.

1) To read 1 book per month

  • Something that I really started to love more last year was reading. I particularly enjoyed "This is going to hurt" by Adam Kay and "Just Eat It" by Laura Thomas. However I struggled to find time for reading, even though I enjoyed it so much! I also have a pile of books waiting to read on my bookshelf which I can't wait to dive into! Therefore, in the evening before bed - instead of scrolling through my phone, I hope to read some of my book!

2) To purchase and use a new sustainable item

  • Last year, I made a resolution to make 1 small sustainable change - which I completed by using my keepcup. This year I want to further that by using an alternative more sustainable item in my daily life. This Christmas, I was given bamboo cotton pads (which I would use to remove my make-up), a bamboo travel cutlery set (instead of using plastic cutlery when out and about) and bamboo toothbrushes (pretty self explanatory!). So instead of them being sat on the shelves looking pretty, I hope to remember to take them with me and use them!

3) To complete Veganuary

  • Veganuary is always something that has intrigued me, especially with the rising number of people identifying their diets and/or lifestyle as vegan. According to the BBC i's estimated that there are 600,000 vegans in Great Britain in 2018 which is up from 150,000 in 2006.

  • Due to the fact I only plan on completing this for 1 month I am focusing on mainly plant-based eating, rather than throwing out clothes or make-up which may not be certified by The Vegan Society. I personally eat about 70% vegetarian/vegan prior to embarking on Veganuary, so I am hoping it will not be as difficult as some make it out to be!

4) To be more hospitable

  • As you may know, if you've followed this page for a while, I love cooking - even more when it is for other people! I love having people round and cooking for them, or just bringing goodies into work. This year I hope to do this on a more regular basis for those friends and family around me.

Lots of Love
