This week I am going to give you a few tips on what I enjoyed most from my trip to Venice for the weekend a few months ago! Sorry this post is a bit late, all my Christmas and Veganuary posts took priority!

1) Don't be put off, if the flights to and from Venice are expensive - you can fly into or out of Verona airport which is only just over an hour by train and cost about 9 euro. It also means you can see another city at the same time!
2) Utilise your phone maps app (of purchase a map) and walk! - Due to the many canals, it can be very easy to get lost or to struggle to navigate your way depending on where the bridges are. I loved walking through all of Venice, finding the streets and canals fascinating in comparison to what a walk in Norwich is like!
3) Pre-book your gondola ride - It's Venice... a trip here wouldn't be complete without a gondola ride! You have options of sharing your gondola with others or having a private one. Pre-booking your gondola is beneficial for 2 reasons - firstly, it is cheaper and secondly, if you visit in high season - there may not be availability for you to go onto a gondola.
4) Go to a classical concert - Venice is not really the place to go for nightlife, I surprised myself by enjoying going to a 90 minute classical concert at the church of San Vidal (although other venues are available). We went in low season and managed to get a ticket on the night for 15 euro each. Definitely a #culture moment!
5) Go up St Mark's Campanile - this is the 98m tall tower in St Mark's square - it shows incredible views over the city, which is unique when looking for all the canals in between houses. A trip up here costs approx 8 euro per person.

Happy Travelling!
